BUY LESS, BUY BETTER, MAKE IT LAST

True to our Northern California roots we believe clothes are not just meant to be COMFORTABLE but that the QUALITY and the ETHICS of production are KEY to building style that is INTENTIONAL.

STYLING OVER SHOPPING

Our goal is not just to sell you and item that you will wear once, but to give you the TOOLS to STYLE your beautiful pieces you find in our shop multiple ways and teach you how to CARE for them to make them last.  We find out your lifestyle, budget and style goals and help you edit down to KEY items, share trends and TIPS on how to style each item, and help YOU create a wishlist to prioritize building the closet of your dreams.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Owner, Nicole Yarbrough has always had a passion for fashion.  Ever since she received her first sewing machine at 6, she has wanted to create and knew clothes were her medium to connect with others.  After a winding path of working in retail through high school and attending several colleges, she ended up at the Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising learning about design, fabric, grading, merchandising, and more – receiving her Fashion Design degree.  She worked in design, sourcing, production, quality control, product safety, fabric buying and more over her 17-year career for companies including the Gap Inc, CP Shades, Papyrus and more before setting off to follow her dreams of opening a clothing boutique.  Nicole started Pink Arrows online in 2015 and then opened her first retail store in Benicia in 2017.  Since then, she has moved twice to her current location at 372 1st Street in Benicia.

HISTORY OF OUR NAME

Pink Arrows name came from the combination of the “PINK” signifies unconditional love, friendship– mixed with the “ARROWS” being the symbol for struggle and triumph- pushing through hard things – both with the goal of finding inner peace.  The shop was built on the goals of building community and relationships, and creating an environment of comfort, trust and love for oneself.

ETHICS, SUSTAINABILITY + SLOW FASHION

We are building the future we want to see with each brand we source.  We look for brands that are using ethics in their sustainability- paying fair labor wages- and treating people humanly. With a background in sourcing and trips to international factories- Nicole set out to make ethical sourcing an important responsibility for the store.  Looking for brands made in the United States or using certified ethically sourced factories has been an ongoing and important part of our story.  Sustainability is another important factor in choosing new brands.  Fashion can be a wasteful industry – filled with chemicals- and environmental impacts.  Our goals are to support brands and companies that are focused on reducing environmental impact and protecting workers.  We believe in slow fashion and investing in brands that consider the resources and processes needed to make clothing, and prioritize high-quality, timeless designs OVER trendy pieces that are likely to be thrown away after a few wears.

EVERYONE HAS GOLD IN THEIR STORY

There is value in your struggles and the hardest parts of your life create the strongest and most beautiful parts of you.  This quote is on our wall in our shop and represented in the gold in the cracks of our cement floors.  We want you to know you are not alone in your insecurities, we all have them.  We all have struggled in our lives and no person feels amazing about their bodies all the time.  Finding the gold in each other’s journeys is what connects all of us and creates our community.  We want to get to know you and help you feel your most beautiful.  Our store is a safe place to share your story and to create a new one- one that starts with confidence on the outside and grows to confidence on the inside.

SUPPORT LOCAL

Local businesses are the heart of their communities.  We donate to school auctions, provide taxes to support upgrades to our communities, bring in tourists to raise property values, and so much more.  So often we hear how much our community loves that we are here – but they do not buy from our store because it takes effort to drive downtown- while purchasing online is so fast and easy.  This is a reminder that your dollar counts!  It counts for jobs and to keep our business growing and strong.  We are grateful to each customer who visits us and supports our dream.  When you are given the choice, we hope you will see the value in supporting our local small business and the service we provide.
